WHO WILL WIN?

League Champions Clash TO-MORROW’S BIG GAME City Versus Devonport Can a good forward team defeat a good back team? The star attraction at Carla w Park on Saturday should furnish an interesting answer to the question. Devonport’c rugged forward sextette will be opposed by a tsam of flyers, led by international stars of the calibre of Wetherill, Davidson and Brown. It should be a great game.

Devonport is exceptionally strong in the forwards this year. Three out of six of the forwards in the Auckland rep. side which defeated the New Zealand team on Saturday, Dixon, O’Brien and St. George, were all Shore men. And the trans-harbour club is said to have three others just as good to complete the pack. On the other hand, City is particularly strong behind the scrum, with seasoned players of acknowledged skill and brilliance. With a three-quarter line consisting of Wade, Davidson and

Brown, and the whirlwind play of Wetherill supplying the main connecting link between back and forwards, the metropolitan thirteen will take a power of beating if the ball is dry, and their forwards are getting the ball. Both teams are particularly well served in the hooking department. St. George will fill the middle berth for Shore, and Townsend will be his opponent in the City pack. A straightout battle for possession between the pair should not be the least interesting feature of the big game to-morrow.
