LABOUR LEADER AT TE AWAMUTU
SUPPORTS CONTROL CONDEMNS GOVERNMENT Press Association. TE AWAMUTU, To-day. Mr. H. Holland, leader of the Labour Party, addressed a crowded meeting in the town hall last night. He confined his remarks entirely to the advocacy of dairy control and a general condemnation of the present Government’s connection therewith. He was not in favour of vesting in the producers’
board power to fix prices of dairy produce sol£ in New Zealand, as that would lead to price fixation on the basis of London parity. He would not favour a protective duty against imported butter, but if importations threatened he would legislate to prohibit imports. The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
