PAPAKURA FIRE STATION

PROPOSED DEMONSTRATION (From Our Own Correspondent.') PAPAKURA, To-day. A meeting of the Citizens’ Committee was held on Wednesday evening .to finalise the fire brigade demonstration on June 3. The chairman, Mr. C. Garljck, intimated that the Ford chassis had arrived and was ready for the body to be built.

Mr. McEnter, who had charge of the building of the new fire station, reported that all timber was on the ground, and the site on the railway section would be fixed on Friday morning. The department was prepared to grant another five years’ lease if required. The lease was being prepared in the name of the town board. Disappointment was expressed at the refusal of the brigade to take part in the demonstration. The brigade suggested a smoke concert instead, but the proposal was not agreed to.
