PAPATOETOE NOTES
(From Our Oxen Correspondent.) The members of St. George’s Anglican Church Guild held a very successful function in the church yesterday, when a good number of members and friends attended. During the afternoon a musical programme was submitted, including items by Miss Ivy Smytheman, pianoforte solo; Mrs. Hyghland, song; Madame Mabel St. James, recitation; Mrs. Fred Burnside, song; Miss Zoe Richards, recitation. At the conclusion of the items a very dainty afternoon tea was served. Stalls were erected in the hall for the sale of goods, and brisk business was done. Those in charge of the stalls were as follow: Cake and sw r eet stall, Misses D. Waters and Thorne; produce stall, Mesdames Bewes, Mellsop, and White; guild stall, Miss Gane; and Mrs. Wright was in charge of the tea rooms, assisted by members of the guild. The visitors were welcomed to the “afternoon” by Mrs. Smytheman, president of the guild, and the Rev. Davis occupied the chair.
