ON THE ’CHANGE

REVIEW OF THE WEEK MARKET QUIET Business on the Stock Exchange has been quiet during the week, with little activity in any quarter. In banks, Australasia, New South Wales, New Zealand’ and Union remain firm and New Zealand’s are passing freely from £2 19s 9d to £3^ In the insurance section New Zealand's are firmer and in good demand. In coals Pukemiro have weakened, and the section generally is quiet, i A dull tone is registered in the timber section, with few buyers quoting. The miscellaneous section is generally dull. New Zealand Fertilisers continue to strengthen. Taranaki Oils are weakening with no buyers in the market. Mining, except for Waihis, which left the market at mid-day to-day with buyers offering 18s Id, is generally depressed. Alburnias and Kawaraus have declined several points during the week.

Government and local body debentures remain firm and are meeting with a steady demand.
