PUKEKOHE BOROUGH
(From Our Own Correspondent.') PUKEKOHE, To-day
The Pukekohe Borough Council met on Wednesday evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. Routly, presiding. Speaking in regard to the sewerage proposal, the mayor said he would not take any further action until a petition from at least 100 ratepayers was received.
The following were elected:—De-puty-Mayor, Mr. G. T. Parvin; finance committee, the mayor, Messrs. G. T. Parvin, J. P. Rae, and H. J. Wily: works committee, the mayor, Messrs. J. P. Rae, F. J. Morrow and J. Bellhouse; waterworks and sanitary committee, Messrs. G. H. Armstrong, G. T. Parvin, C. Bonner, A. F. Brown, F. J. Morrow.
Consideration was given to the question of the control of traffic, it v being decided to retain the services of a traffic inspector, but to obtain the assistance of the Police Department upon show and race days. Appreciation of the 13 years’ service rendered as a councillor by Mr. D. R. Hamilton, who did not seek re-election, was placed on record. It was decided to again urge the Railway Department to instal electricity in the railway houses situated in Blrcli Road. .
