SPRIGHTLY AT 100

CANADIAN CENTENARIAN RELATIVES IN AUCKLAND The town of Sutton, Ontario, Canada, has a sprightly centenarian, Miss Eliza Anderson, who is a distant relative of Mrs. M. McCallum, of Remuera, Auckland. Miss Anderson was born in India in 1827. On her 100th birthday recently Miss Anderson waltzed round the room with her grandnephew at the party given in her honour. Here is a Toronto newspaper's account of her birthday: Bell Pealing 100 Times Tells of Unique Event. Miss Eliza Anderson, centenarian, of Sutton West, attends Holy Communion. The bell in the tower of the Anglican Parish Church pealed forth 100 times as the rector entered the church to conduct a special celebration of the Holy Communion for Miss Eliza Anderson, who reached the century mark to-day. At the appointed time Miss Anderson walked unassisted to the altar rail to partake of the Holy Communion. A large number of friends and relatives were present at the service, among them being her great-grand-niece, Caroline Anderson, and her grandnieces, the Misses Bouchier. Miss Anderson is the daughter of tlfe late Robert Anderson, who first settled in the township of Georgina in 1831. and she is a grand-daughter of the late James Anderson. LL.D., of Cobdenshaw, Scotland, a writer and scholar of distinction.
