DIAMOND WEDDING
MR. AND MRS. R. BROOKS The sixtieth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Richey Brooks, of Drury, was celebrated to-day. The marriage was performed at First Presbyterian Church, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland, by the Rev. H. B. Wilson, on May 3, 1867. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks came out to New Zealand in the sailing ship Lauderdale, which reached Auckland on January 29, 1875. After working in Auckland for some years, Mr. Brooks was sent by the Railway Department to Drury. Mr. Mrs. Brooks then set up in business as grocers, in Drury, and retired about five years ago. Mr. Brooks has achieved the venerable age of 90 years and is 10 years older than Mrs. Brooks. Four sons and four daughters are still living. They are Mr. T. H. Brooks, J.P., Captain W. J. Brooks and Mr. W Brooks, of Drury, Commandant A .T. Brooks, Salvation Army, Sydney; Mrs. Benege, Auckland; Mrs. Watkinson. Ngaruawahia; Mrs. Robinson, Drury; and Mrs. Anderson, Bankstown. Sydney. There are 21 gra. ichildren and one great grandchild.
