FULL OF THE BEST

The first big jumping event of the season is the Wanganui Steeplechase, to be run a fortnight on Thursday. Auckland’s hopes are Beau Cavalier, Peter Rosa, Lady Spalpeen, and Peter Maxwell. Included in a field of twentyfive are the winners of the last two Grand Nationals, Tuki and Peter Maxwell, and two previous winners of the big Wanganui event, Tuki and San Forte. The Wanganui Steeplechase promises to be a most interesting race, quite apart from the fact that fourteen out of the twenty-three claim an engagement in the Great Northern Steeplechase.
