MELBOURNE STEAMER. - The Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Moeraki arrived at Wellington at 7.30 o’clock this morning from Melbourne, via Bluff, Dunedin and Lyttelton, and sails at 1 p.m. to-morrow for Melbourne direct. SYDNEY STEAMER. The only passenger steamer from Sydney this week is the Huddart, Parker Company’s vessel Ulimaroa, which was due at Wellington at noon to-day. She leaves Wellington on Friday on the return trip to Sydney. FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA. According to cable advice the Union Company expects the steamer Kaituna from Adelaide to clear Melbourne to-day for Hobart, where she completes loading for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth and Auckland. HURUNUI TO COMPLETE. To complete loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Hurunui leaves Wellington on Thursday for Napier. She is scheduled to clear Napier finally on May 11 for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain, via Panama. RUAPEHU DEPARTS. With passengers, mails and cargo, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruapehu left Wellington at 5.45 p.m. yesterday for Liverpool and London/ via Panama. TAINUI COMPLETING.— At present completing her loading at Wellington the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui is schedLiled to leave there at daybreak to-morrow for Southampton and London, via Panama. SOMERSET FOR HOME. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Somerset is due at Wellington on Thursday from Port Chalmers to complete loading. She is announced to sail from Wellington on May 7 for HuP and London, via Panama. - NGAPUHI RELIEVES CLANSMAN. -—The Clansman has been withdrawn for overhaul and survey. She went into dock yesterday mornipg. Her place has been taken by the Ngapuhi, which was despatched for Russell and Northern ports last evening, and is due back at Auckland on Friday morning. The Clansman is expected to be laid up for about two weeks. FORERIC RADlOS. —According to a radio message received by Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane the steamer Foreric is due off Tiri at 7 a.m. to-mor-row from Nauru Island. WEST CARMONA REPORTS. En route from Pacific Coast ports the steamer West Carmona is due at Auckland at 6 p.m. to-morrow, states a wireless message received by Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane. The vessel proceeds from Auckland to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Melbourne. MAMARI LEAVES LONDON.—Advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the Mamari left London on April 29 for Auckland., where*she is due on June 5. She will not berth at Auckland, but will unload 350 tons of explosives at the anchorage. From here the Mamari proceeds to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete her discharge. A. S. Paterson and Co. are the local agents. CARGO FROM LONDON.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Dunedin is scheduled to sail from London on May IS for Suva, Wellington, Auckland and Napier. Bringing cargo from London the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Remuera is to clear Southampton with passengers for New Zealand next Friday. The cargo will be unloaded at Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Wellington on June 11. RARANGA TO LOAD.— The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Raranga is to leave Nelson to-morrow for Auckland, where she is due on Friday morning. The vessel will continue loading at this port and then go to Napier, Wanganui and Wellington to complete her cargo. She is to be despatched from Wellington on May 20 for London, via Falkland Islands. QUEEN ELEANOR. —Although no radio has been received the New Zeaalnd Shipping Company expects the steamer Queen Eleanor to arrive about Friday with cargo from Louisberg and St. John. Her discharging ports are Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne and Sydney,
MATAROA ARRIVES.—An arrival at Auckland this morning was the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa from London and Southampton, via Curacao, Panama, and Pitcairn Island. After pratique was granted the vessel berthed at Prince’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails, and part cargo. The Mataroa loaded her cargo at London and left there on March 24 for Southampton, where she embarked her passengers and mails. Departure from Southampton was taken the following day and the vessel ran into a strong head wind and rough seas which lasted until March 30. From then onwards the vessel experienced gX»od weather, although- very hot during the run through the tropics. Curacao was reached on April 7, and the Mataroa replenished her oil supply while the passengers had a run ashore. Departure was taken the next day and the vessel arrived at Colon on April 10. Transit through Panama Canal was given and the Mataroa berthed the same day at Balboa. The passengers were able to go ashore here as the vessel stopped the night there. The vessel continued her voyage the next day and Pitcairn Island was reached at 4 p.m. on April 22. Here the Islanders came aboard and bartered with fruit and curios. After a stay of two hours the Mataroa stood on her way and Auckland was reached at 5 a.m. this morning. During the voyage the usual games, dances, picture shows, an,d teas -were held which helped to while away the dull hours of a long voyage. The Mataroa is to leave Auckland on May 9 for Wellington to complete discharge of her cargo. PORT OF ONEKUNGA—YESTERDAY’S DEPARTURES RARAWA (3.30 p.m.), 1,077 tons, Bark, for New Plymouth. N G ATI AW A (5.15 p.m.), 451 tons, Pert, for Port Waikato, Raglan and Kawhia. The Arapawa was to leave for Wanganui at 1 o’clock this afternoon. The Rarawa is due from New Plymouth at 7.30 a.m. to-morrow.
INSUBORDINATION .—Recently 42 Lascars belonging to the Cayzer Irvine steamer Clan Macaulay were sentenced at Glasgow to 14 days’ imprisonment for insubordination. NEW BLUE STAR LINER. Messrs. Cammell, Laird and Co. ran official trials in Liverpool Bay last month of the Blue Star liner Andalusia, the second of three vessels they have built for the owners 4 new passenger and cargo service between London and South Africa. The vessel afterwards left for London. She is under the command of Captain R. J. Thomas.
