BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
AGITATION RENEWED PLEBISCITE WANTED (From Our Oicn Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Comment has been freely ventured in various quarters upon the efforts of the Bible in Schools League to secure a plebiscite of parents upon the question of religious exercises in schools by the circulation of voting papers containing specific questions of hymn-singing, joining in the Lord’s Prayer, and Bible-reading in school. The Minister for Education states that his formal consent was given for the circulation of voting papers on the specific condition that Education Boards agreed, because he thought many headmasters might object. The decision rests entirely writh boards. He said he understood many boards had already expressed objections.
