A Dress for 30/-
IT CAN BE DONE Prize of £2O Offered MANY COUPONS RECEIVED
Whatever doubt there was in the mind of the promoter of THE SUN’S 30s dress competition as to the possibility of a frock being made for that amount, has been absolutely dispelled by this morning’s mail bag.
Ooooh! What a heap of coupons announcing their senders’ intention of competing for the splendid £2O prize greeted us this morning. We dashed into the office . . . and wondered for a moment why we had become so popular with the postman . . . could all those intriguing letters hold social Invitations ... or what? But . . . from one after another, as they were eagerly opened, out popped coupons, telling of the little frocks that are to follow before May 31. Naturally, we are now eagerly awaiting the frocks themselves, and, if one may judge from the enthusiasm of those who have already signified their intention to anticipate, they will fully reveal the originality and cleverness at home dressmaking that is so decided an attribute of New Zealand women. And what a worth-while competition it is, coming at the commencement of the season, when in any case we would all be wanting new frocks, and making them, even if there were not the enchanting possibility of carrying off a prize of £2O! It is of paramount importance that every potential competitor should carefully read and adhere to the rules, and send in before May 21 the coupon that appears below to advise us of their entry. HOME DRESSMAKING ONLY The competition is confined to amateurs, and professional dressmakers are not eligible. A committee of three expert dress designers will be appointed to judge the exhibits, which will remain the
