Town Planning Booms the H utt.— Inquiry into land values in the Hutt Valley, consequent upon the Government’s closer-settlement scheme, reveals a surprising rise in figures. As a result of the establishment of the Government railway scheme and the subdivision on town-planning lines, the value of land generally in the Hutt Borough has doubled since the last revaluation in 1925. Exactly the same doubling in the same time, and for the same reason, is claimed for the Petone Borough. Business places in Lower Hutt. for which the ruling price in 1925 was £3O a foot, is now held for £ 60, which is being paid.
