Burglars Secure Haul in Karangahape Grocery

A SELECTION OF GOODS During the week-end thieves broke into the premises of W. and J. Feet, grocers, 68 Karangahape Road, and stole goods valued at approximately £SO.

The exact amount of gods taken is difficult to estimate, as the prole : tors carry a large stock and have hot yet discovered all their losses. The_ intruders carried away a large quantity of cigarettes and tobaccos of ■ ill kinds. This morning the employees of the firm found the empty boxes lying round the floor. Patent medicines, tooth paste and brushes, matches and lots of other odds and ends, were selected from the shelves of the shop. The intruders had made a full investigation of the

i premises, but they did not attempt to ■ open the safe. All the cash registers ; in the store are left open and empty during the night, so that nothing was , found in them. Entrance to the building was ob- , tained by breaking a window in the . rear Of the premises. This allowed the thieves into a small room which opened into the store. The dividing door had been forced with a jemmy. There has been a cessation of breaking and entering in Auckland during the past fortnight, but evidently the 1 thieves are starting operations again.
