ST. PAUL’S CHURCH

NEW CHANCEL Preliminary plans have been prepared for completely replacing the present temporary chancel of St. Paul’s Church,. Symonds Street, although it is not expected to commence the work of reconstruction for some time. The wooden structure forming the present chancel will be removed, and the new one carried back a further 15 feet. It will also be built to the full width of-the church, while the organ will be housed in a loft above, giving greater space below. It is proposed to carry out the construction in reinforced concrete, finishing it on the outside with a facing of stone in harmony with the rest of the walls.
