FORBURY PARK CLUB

LIST OF ACCEPTANCES Press Association DUNEDIN, Friday. Acceptances for the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting next Thursday are: BAYFIELD HANDICAP ,

NOT WANTED KOTUKU JACK’S COLLAPSE MENACE TO OTHERS That all is not well with the Logan Pointer gelding, Kotuku Jack, was plainly visible by his uncertain gait and feebie efforts at the recent New Zealand Metropolitan meeting, and the brother to Prince Pointer proved a stumbling block to some of the other competitors, whose rosy prospects were extinguished by the instability of Mill’s charge. Although Kotuku Jack appeared all right when he went to the post on the first day, it was soon made manifest that something was wrong with the pacer, and after a poor display in the early stages of the event, he was pulled up, but not before Direct Wood and Zolock Palm, who were in behind the Logan Pointer gelding collided with him and lost their drivers and also any chance they had of participating in the stake monev. On the concluding day Logan Pointer’s brother was again harnessed up and after traversing a portion of the journey, he began to drag one of his legs, and once more his driver found it necessary to pull the horse up. When the owners of Kotuku Jack signified their intention of taking part in the Ashburton fixture by accepting with their horse, the judicial committee of that august body promptly decided to inform Messrs Jack and Stewart that their pacer’s absence would be preferable to his company, and he was labelled "not wanted.” The club took up the attitude that in view of the occurrences at Addington caused through the indisposition of Kotuku Jack during his races, his presence would constitute a menace to other competitors and their pilots. It transpires that the son of Logan " Pointer—Princess Sherwood was attacked with cramp in both his starts, which accounted for his unprecedented and peculiar display- "When Kotuku Jack won the Royal Oak Handicap at the Otahuhu spring meeting he showed a lot of promise and good

judges expected to see the relative of Prince Pointer reach high-grade company. Since then, however, he has failed to make good, and his recent display showed that Kotuku Jack is not in anything like his November fom.
