Clerk of Court Appointed.—The appointment is gazetted of Mr. J. D. Kerr to be clerk of the magistrate’s court, Opotiki, as from April 1. Indian Navy Bill. —The House of Lords has passed the second reading 0 f the Indian Navy Bill, which has already passed the House of Commons. —A. and N.Z. Man Electrocuted.—John Lyons, aged 25, employed by the Otago Power Board, came into contact with a live wire yesterday and was killed instantaneously. West Australian Cabinet.—The Labour Party has re-elected the former Western Australian Cabinet, with che addition of Mr. H. Hamilton as an honorary Minister. Mr. Phillip Collier retains the Premiership.—A. and N.Z. Ulimaroa Delayed. —The departure of the Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday was delayed for two hours owing to an accident to one of her firemen. The man fell down the ladder leading to the stokehold. He was taken to a hospital.—A. and N.Z. Winter Arrives. —A message from Ohakune says: Following a sharp frost on Wednesday night, bitterly cold weather has prevailed. Heavy showers of snow this morning were interspersed with rain. Mount Ruapehu is covered >vith a thick coat of snow. An Arbitration Court Ruling. —When parues are to be added to an industrial award the onus is on the union to show that they should be added and not on the employer to show why they should not. —A ruling of Mr. Justice Frazer’s this morning. Influenza in Opotiki. —Quite an epidemic of a mild type of influenza is now spreading in the Opotiki district The symptoms, although unpleasant, do not appear to develop into anything serious, and sufferers are able to get about again in the course of a few days. Railway Yard Accident. —Mr. A. Hodgson, married, aged 25, who fell from a set of sheerlegs at the engine sheds yesterday morning and received injuries to his foot and back, making necessary his admission to the Auckland Hospital, was able to go home later in the day. An X-ray examination showed that his injuries were not as serious as was first thought. Finances of One Tree Hill. —The annual repo.-t of the One Tree Hill Road Board shows a balance of slightly over £2OO to the good. Receipts for the year total £33.751 of which £22,244 is from rates. Expenditure figures are £33,546, made up of £7,432, interest and sinking funds; £4,899, waterworks; £2,404, hospital levy; £t,566, administration; £1.372, street lighting; £1,208, sanitation; £1,135, Drainage Board; and £1.130, miscellaneous. Payments on loans are not included. Lorry Overturns. —While travelling along the Great South Road near Manurewa yesterday morning, a twoton lorry loaded with baled hay, owneu and driven by Mr. W. Goodger, of Manurewa, skidded and overturned. At the time of the accident the vehicle *’as being driven along a narrow deviation at the side of the concrete road. Fortunately Mr. Goodger and his companion escaped injury, and the lorry was not damaged. Beautifying Papatoetoe. —The annual meeting of the Papatoetoe Beautifying Progressive League was held on Thursday, 28th inst. Dr. Jameson, President of the league, was in the diair. The treasurer’s report was read, showing a balance of over £ls. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. Haddock; vice-presidents, Messrs. McFarland and Booth; secrefjry, Mr. S.
