BIG BOYS OF THE MAT AND THEIR WAYS
JOE DUFTY’S GOWN Joe Dufty, the Hamilton wrestler, does not do things by halves. At the wrestling matches at the Town Hall on Monday night he was the only wrestler to affect the approved wrestling garment, which consists of a weird-looking robe rather like an abbreviated dressing-gown. Discarding this embellishment when the gd. ng sounded, Dufty disclosed torso and lower limbs of massive proportions. Older than Anderson, he was not as fit as his well-knit opponent, but he was wonderfully elusive and tenacious. No power of Anderson's could turn him over when he was spreadeagled, face downward upon the mat. * * * Ern. Anderson, who was unlucky not to get a verdict over Dufty, as he was aggressive all the way through, returned to his home at Palmerston North last night. The powerful young man is a fine Rugby forward. In his home town the Old Boys’ Club finds his services useful.
