LIGHTHOUSE LIKE BUDDHA

IMMENSE CONCRETE STATUE A lighthouse donated to the port of Nagoya, to be dedicated in May, is in the unusual shape of a huge Buddha, cast in concrete. The Buddha is in the conventional form, along the lines of the famous bronze Buddha at Kamakura, but larger. The immense concrete statue is 7_’ feet high and 52 feet in girth, in its forehead, where the ordinary Buddha had a jewrel, there being set a 10,000 candlepower electric light, shining out over the harbour.
