PERSONAL. —Captain A. J. Charvin, of the Messageries Maritime Line, arrived in Wellington by the Marama from Sydney on Tuesday. Captain D. M. Todd, who has been appointed as junior pilot to the Wellington Harbour Board, returned to Wellington from Sydney by the Makura on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife and child. Mr. R. P. Barr, of the Union Company’s staff leaves Auckland to-day for Sydney on holiday leave. HINEMOA SAILS MONDAY.— Messrs. Spedding, Ltd., advise that the Government steamer Hinemoa leaves Auckland at 5 p.m. on Monday for Norfolk Island. CANADIAN PIONEER COMING The local branch of the Canadian Government Line has been advised by cable that the Canadian Pioneer left Halifax on April 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. She is due here about June 7. MATAROA RADIOS. A further radio message received by Messrs. L. D. Nathan and Co. states that the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa is dLie at Auckland at 8 a.m. on Tuesday from London and Southampton. Besides cargo for discharge at ALickland and Wellington, the Mataroa has 594 passengers for disembarkation at this port. RARANGA LEAVES BLUFF.—Advice received by Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co. states that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Raranga left Bluff yesterday for Nelson to complete discharge and to load for Home. She later proceeds to Auckland and is due here about Friday, May 6, to lift further cargo. She is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on May 19 for London via Falkland Islands, Montevideo and Teneriffe. KIA ORA COMPLETING.— At present completing her loading at Auckland, Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co. advise that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Kia Ora leaves to-mor-row morning for London via New York and Boston.
WEST CONOB SAILS TO-NIGHT. —Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane advises that the American steamer West Conob leaves Auckland to-night for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and China.
TO COMPLETE LOADING. To complete loading for New Boston and Montreal, the Canadian Government Line advises that the steamer Canadian Challenger arrives at Auckland this afternoon from Wellington. She is to clear here to-morrow night or early Sunday morning. RUAPEHU FOR HOME.— The New Zealand Shipping Co. advises that the liner Ruapehu leaves Wellington at 5 p.m. to-morrow for Liverpool and London via Panama. MOERAKI DELAYED.— The local office of the Union . Co. has been advised that owing to a delay in Dunedin the passenger steamer Moeraki will now leave Wellington at 3 p.m. on Tuesday next for Melbourne direct.. TOFUA AT SUVA.— Cable advice received by the Union Co. states that the Tofua arived at Suva at 7 a.m. yesterday from Auckland and leaves to-day for Tonga and Samoa. * SOUTH AUSTRALIA LOADINGS.— The Union Co. advises that the Kaituna is expected to leave Adelaide tomorrow and Melbourue on Tuesday next for Hobart to complete loading for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth and Auckland. PACIFIC SERVICES.— The Union Co. advises the following movements of steamers engaged in the Pacific vices:The Wairuna, from Pacific Coast ports, is expected to arrive at Papeete on Sunday next, and should arrive here about May 12. The Waiotapu is expected to arrive here on May 20 from Pacific Coast ports, and later proceeds to Napier, Wellington and Australia. The R.M.S. Niagara is due to arrive at Vancouver to-day and leaves there on Wednesday next for Auckland via ports. WELLINGTON LYTTELTON FERRY SERVlCE. —Commencing May 2, the Railway Department* will revert to the winter time-table between Christchurch and Invercargill as follows: — The 8.50 a.m. Christchurch-Inver-cargill express train will run only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The 7.0 a.m. Invercargill-Lyttelton wharf express train will run only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The 12.25 p.m. Christchurch-Dun-edin mail train will run only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The 8.40 a.m. Dunedin-Christchurch mail train will run only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In consequence of the foregoing, the Maori, subsequent to May 2, will leave Lyttelton on Wednesdays and Fridays after arrival of the 6.50 p.m. train from Christchurch, by which train passengers ex Dunedin express, due at at 5.10 p.m., will also proceed.
I OIL FROM TEXAS. —A cablegram from Balboa reports the departure of the steamer Persian Prince for Auckland, where she will discharge case oil from Texas. She is due about May 22. PORT HARDY REPORTED. —The departure of the Port Hardy, en route from London to Auckland, is reported in a cable message from Panama. The vessel is due here , about May IS, and will also unload at Dunedin and New Plymouth. PORT CURTIS FROM LONDON.— Advice from Lyttelton states that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Curtis arrived there at 8.20 a.m. to-day from London. The vessel has cargo for discharge at Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Timaru and Lyttelton. MAUNGANUI FOR SYDNEY.— The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer, Maunganui (Captain A. H. Davey), was to leave for Sydney at 3 o’clock this afternoon with passengers, mails and cargo. The Rarawa arrives at Onehunga early to-morrow from New Plymouth and leaves on Monday on the return trip. The Ngatiawa, due at Onehunga on Sunday from Hokianga, sails on Monday for Raglan and Kawhia. The Arapawa returns to Onehunga on Sunday from Raglan and Kawhia and leaves on Monday for Wanganui.
