FALSE INCOME RETURN TAXES OF £946 EVADED Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Having understated his income by £9,711 since 1917, thereby evading payment of income tax to the extent of £946. Herbert Hep worth, a chemist of Palmerston North, was fined a total of £SOO by Mr. E. Page, S.M.. to-day. Mr. Tudhope. for the department, said the defendant had returned less than one-third of his income. The tax paid was about one-sixth of what it should have been.
