SPENT FOR VERY LITTLE RESULT So far as the elections yesterday were concerned, and the City Coudhl elections associated with the Hospital Board and Harbour Board in particular, Auckland has spent several thousand pounds, in return for which the council has lost three good members, who have been replaced by members who have yet to prove their worth, and the other two bodies have each changed one member. The bill for this little venture will run into a very considerable amount. The City Council’s share, portion of which will be contributed by the Harbour Board will, judging on past figures, be something like this: — £ Time of ordinary staff and assistants 1. 000 Special staff, election day and afterwards Advertising Booth hire Printing ballot papers Cartage and cars Printing of rolls I>d y Total £3,96.1 In addition to this it is necessity to add the money expended by cauui’ dates, or their committees or syiO’ pathisers, in renting committee x-oost', printing, organising, advertising, a.™ hall rent —not forgetting the fact that yesterday between the four mayoralt candidates there were between 250 ah' 300 cars on the road most of the day-
