THE GRAND
“DON JUAN” “Don Juan” will continue to he shown at the Grand Theatre to-mor-row and on Saturday. The story is well known, and the film extremely well produced. Of Barrymore a reviewer has written: “He is dashing-, ardent, well poised. He brings to the character a well-studied psychology and is more nearly the true Don Juan than the ideal that many have raised. Graceful, well-knit, agile and ardent, he makes the don the perfect lover, practised in every wile, adroit in excuses and inventions and making a serious business of the pastime of love. In the latter scenes, notably in the duel, he displays an agility and grace suggestive of Fairbanks at his best. The duel is notably good and his escape from the under-water dungeon and the subsequent rescue of Adrianna and the flight on horseback are built in to provide a climax that is well within the tale and yet which fully satisfied the demand of a majority of the public for fast and vivid action.”
