MR. G. A. TROUP ELECTED Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The mayoral election saw the return of Mr. G. A. Troup, who defeated the Labour candidate, Mr. C. H. Chapman. The retiring mayor Mr. C. J. B. Norwood, did not seek re-election. The voting was as follows: fj A. Troup 12,446 C. H. Chapman 10,318 Majority 2,128 The reHult of the election in 1925 was a , follows: — C J- B Norwood 13,191 C. H- Chapman 11,797 EXPERIENCED MEN (From Our Resident Correspondent.') WELLINGTON, To-day. Gratification was expressed to-day # at the city’s choice of a governing* body for the next municipal term, the new council embracing what is considered a splendid working team for the future civic administration of Wellington. Included in the selected councillors are Mr. John Caughley, ex-Dlrector of Education; Mr. R. W. McVillv, exManager of Railways; Mr. Huggins, ex-Controller of Savings Banks (all trained men); and confidence was reposed in several of the best workers on the old council. Labour’s eleven nominees suffered seevrely, only two securing Messrs. R. Semple and R. McKeen, M.P. These have served the city well, and are recognised as the best on the Labour ticket.
