TO H. B. LUSK—MANY TIMES A GOLF CHAMPION AND AGAIN THIS YEAR’S PROVINCIAL CHAMPION
With incredible consistence He negotiates the distance O’er the fairway and the bunkers to the green, (for the purpose of the rhyme) he Will negotiate a “stymie” In a manner that is seldom ever seen. With indifference that’s utter, He will gaily swing a putter A considerable distance from the pin. And the wily little pellet (Just exactly as he’ll tell it) With a gyroscopic motion, trickles And even should he “crash,” he With a niblick or a mashie, Seems to extricate the tiny little “pill” Out of every nook and cranny In a manner most uncanny As to leave the Colonel (bogey) looking ill. EPILOGUE Tho’ the years have interceded They Have not in fact impeded Nor have jeep ard ised yo u r chances of the “Champ”— Jt may peradventure hurt you If I more extol your virtue, And will leave me with a touch of writer’s cramp. But I have a fixed intention, And I'm going to make a mention, Of a certain littie theory, Mr. Lusk. With consistency infernal You have so eclipsed the “Kernel” That you ought to change your monniker” to “ HUSK.” B.C.H.
