CHURCH TO NAVY
POPULAR VICAR. FAREWELLED AT TE AWAMUTU (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. John’s Church was held in Te Awamutu Parish Hall on Tuesday evening. The Rev. G. P. Robson presided. The election of officers resulted as follows: Vicar’s Warden, Mr. 11. A. Swarbrick; People’s Warden, Mr. N. A. Lee; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. G. Wynyard; auditor. Mr. G. O. Jourdain; vestry, Messrs. H. J. Collins, W. Mensforth, C. A. Finch, H. Hall, B. F. Morris, H. Focke, J. G. Wynyard, E. E. Mizen and J Marshall. During the evening the chairman referred to his early departure from Te Awamutu, having accepted an appointment in the Royal Navy. He regretted his departure from those with whom he had laboured, and thanked all for their kindness and help. Mr. N. Lee, on behalf of the parishioners. expressed sorrow at losing the vicar, and wished him every success in his new sphere of duty. He asked his acceptance of a wallet well filled with notes, and to Airs. Robson he presented a lovely bouquet.
