The police have not yet definitely identified George Walker, in connection with the Ashfield shooting tragedy. He had substantial accounts with the Invercargill Post Office Savings Bank under the name of George Walker, and with the Commonwealth Bank in Sydney, in the name of George William Smith. He came to Australia by the Moeraki, which left Bluff for Melbourne on April 11.—A. and N.Z. George Walker and Thelma Hammlll, aged IS, were shot dead outside Miss Hammill’s home, Ashfield, on Monday by William Gordon Fuller, who committed suicide. Jealousy is believed to be the motive for the crime.
