SENSELESS JOKE
POLICE MISLED REPORTED FATAL ACCIDENT (From Our Ou-ii Correspondent.) MAETON, To-day. Somebody who forgot that April 1 had passed “put one across” the Marton police last evening. A telephone message was received to the effect that a serious motor accident had occurred on Wangaehu Hill. The driver was reported to be killed and two passengers injured. Constables Thompson and Jones immediately motored to the scene of the reported disaster and found the body of a car wrecked through crashing into a bank, but no one was injured. The motorists were very indignant at the exaggerated report. while the police would a great deal like to set hold of the joker,
Radium Treatment. —“ The use of deep therapy and radium was commenced in the hospital during: the year. The number of patients treated with deep therapy was 65: and the number of treatments given 107. Radium was used in 95 cases with 257 treatments. It is too soon to give results of such treatments, but it may be said that patients have derived benefit,” says the report of the medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital.-
