CONCLUSION OF TOURNAMENT (From Our Oxen Correspondent.J WANGANUI, To-day. Although the weather for the first six days of the New Zealand Maori Tennis Championship was very fine it has been quite contrary during the past six days, consequently the progress of the games has been seriously interfered with. The finals are gradually being disposed of. In the women’s championship singles, Miss E. Hale, Gisborne, defeated Miss K. Hei, Gisborne, in a hard fought game. Miss Hale, who was the holder of the title retains the Hinerapa Cup for another year. The final match of the mixed doubles went to D. Potae and Miss K. Hei, who defeated Tukere and Mrs. R. Potaka, after the latter pair had beaten P. TeH. Jones and Mrs. Jones. The Marumaru Cup for the teams matches was won by the Arawa team from Rotorua, and the Morehu Turoa Cup, which was played for under the rules governing the Davis Cup contests, was annexed by Wanganui, who beat Arawa in the final. The Misses Rukutai and Newton, Auckland, won the women’s doubles. In the women’s championship singles final. Miss E. Hale, holder, beat Miss K. Hei, 4 —6, 6 —l, 6—3. In the combined doubles, semi-final, Potae and Mis Hei beat P. Te H. Jones and Mrs. Jones, 6—4, 7—5, and in the final Potae and Miss Hei beat Tukere and Mrs. Potaka, 6—3, 6—2. In the women’s championship doubles, semi-finals, Miss Rukutai and Newton beat Miss Harepa and Minarapa, 6—2, 7 —5; Miss Hei and Miss Hale beat Mrs. McLeod and Miss Ratana, 6 —o, 6 —2. In the final Miss Rukutai and Miss Newton beat Miss Hei and Miss Hale.
