PERSONAL. —Captain C. Cummings has relieved Captain M. Perotti as master of the Tuhoe, while Mr. T. Campbell has joined the vessel as chief officer and Mr. D. McCallum as chief engineer. Captain E. Keatley, Messrs. A. Mead and R. Mudie have signed on the Clansman as master, chief officer and chief engineer respectively. OIL TANKER NUCULA. —The Admiralty oil-tanker, Nucula, is due at Auckland to-morrow from San Pedro. The vessel came via the New Hebrides and Suva, leaving the latter on Saturday last. She is bringing another supply of oil fuel for the vessels of the New Zealand Division. MATAROA RADIOS. —According to a radio message received, Messrs. L. D. Nathan and Company expect the Shaw Savill and Albion liner Mataroa to reach Auckland on Tuesday morning next, May 3, from London and Southampton via Panama. WEST IVAN COMING. —CabIe advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the American steamer West Ivan sailed from Los Angeles on April 23 for Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. She is due here about May 18. FROM PACIFIC COAST PORTS.— The Union Company have been advised by cable that the Waiotapu cleared San Francisco at noon on Sunday last for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. She is due here on May 20. ROTORUA REPORTED. —Outward bound from London and Southampton the N.Z. Shipping Company has been advised by cable that the liner Rotorua arrived at Colon on April 22 and sailed from Panama the following day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Bluff and Auckland. She is due at Wellington on May 14 and at Auckland about May 30. RIMUTAKA HOME. News has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Rimutaka arrived at Southampton on Friday morning from Wellington. The vessel left Wellington on March 2. PHOSPHATES FROM NAURU.— Advice has been received by Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane that the steamer Foreric left Nauru Island on April 22 with phosphates for discharge at Auckland and Wanganui. She is due here on May 4. CORINTHIC LEAVES HOME.— Cable advice received by the Shaw Savill and Albion Company states that the liner Corinthic sailed from Southampton on Friday afternoon last for Wellington and Auckland. She is expected at Wellington on May 30 and at Auckland a week later. BARON GRAHAM TO SAIL.— Messrs. Robert Millar and Co. advise that they expect to dispatch the Baron Graham at about noon to-morrow for Westport to bunker. From there the vessel proceeds to Melbourne to load wheat for the United Kingdom. PERSIAN PRINCE COMING.— The Prince Line vessel Persian Prince left Texas on April 17 for Auckland, New Plymouth, Wanganui and Australian ports. She is bringing ’ a cargo of sulphur for discharge in New Zealand and is due here on May 22. Messrs. Robert Millar and Co. are the local agents.

PORT CURTIS REPORTED.—A wireless message received by the C. and D. Line from the Port Curtis reports that the vessel will arrive at Lyttelton on Thursday from London. THE RIVER CLYDE—The Spanish steamer Angela, formerly the British River Clyde of Gallipoli fame, carried American coal to Britain during the last coal strike in England. DIOMEDE ARRIVES.—The actingflagship of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, H.M.S. Diomede, arrived at Auckland at S o’clock this morning from Suva. The vessel has been on a cruise to the Pacific Islands. SUSSEX FROM CALCUTTA. —The Sussex, from Calcutta, via Rangoon. Penang, and Singapore, was expected to clear Java ports on Saturday for Townsville, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and' Dunedin. WHAN GAPE RADlOS.—According to a radio message received by the Union Company, the steamer Whangape will arrive at Auckland at 10 a.m. to-morrow from Newcastle. HINEMOA DUE. Although no radio has been received by Messrs. Spedding, Limited, the Government steamer Hinemoa is due at Auckland to-night or early to-morrow morning from Suva. She leaves again on Monday at 3 p.m. for Norfolk Island. CANADIAN CHALLENGER.—The Canadian Government Line steamer Canadian Challenger was to leave Wellington to-day for Auckland, where she is due on Friday morning next, April 29. The vessel will complete loading here and sail the next day for New York, Boston and Montreal. WEST CO NOB DUE.—From Pacific Coast ports the American steamer West Conob is due at Auckland this afternoon and after pratique has been granted will berth at King’s Wharf to discharge under the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane and to load for Melbourne. She is scheduled to clear Auckland on Friday evening for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and China. FIRE IN BUNKERS.—The C. and D. Line steamer Port Caroline, which arrived in Wellington on Thursday from Wanganui roadstead, to complete loading for London, was found to have her bunker coal smouldering on Saturday morning. It was found desirable to unload the coal into a hulk alongside the liner at the Pipitea Wharf. The Port Caroline suffered no structural damage, and it is expected that she will sail as previously arranged to-morrow morning, for London, via Montevideo.

The Arapawa was to leave at noon to-day for Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato. The Ngatiawa went on slip yesterday for an overhaul. She comes off to-morrow and sails later in the day for Hokianga.

BIG DEFICIENCY.—There was a deficiency of nearly £40,000 in the last yearly accounts of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. This deficiency was caused mostly by the coal trouble at Home. PANAMA CANAL.—During the last fiscal year British vessels carried an aggregate of 6,750,843 tons of cargo through the Panama Canal. Th:'s constitutes a record since the canal was opened.
