DUKE’S RECEPTION CHRISTCHURCH WORRIED HITCH OVER SUBSIDY Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. A hitch has arisen in connection with the payment of the Government subsidy on the expenses incurred in connection with the visit of the Duke of York to Christchurch. The Royal Reception Committee allocated its expenditure on the basis of a subsidy of £I,OOO being received from the Government, but instead of paying over that sum, as expected, the Minister of Finance has intimated his intention of paying only about £4OO. The mayor has made a statement to the Prime Minister on the subject.
