His average speed was 90i miles an hour. At the Melbourne Motordrome, the Austral Wheel Race resulted as follows:—Hanneman 1, Brown and Shane (dead heat) 2, Foden 4. Won by four lengths. Time, 4min. 2 3-ssec. The Austral Motor-paced Handicap resulted: Opperman 1, Beath 2, Fibaud 3. Won by four lengths. Time, 3min. 57 2-osec.—A. and N.Z. AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL SYDNEY, Sunday. The players of the various football codes turned out in strong force in fine weather on Saturday. There is every prospect that the season will be a strenuous one.—A. and N.Z.
