Had Cimabue left the barrier with the others in the AllAged Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday, would he Have won? Perhaps. Who knows? Why did his jockey let him fiy from the three to the two furlongs in a wonderful burst of speed, instead of conserving him for the final dash, leaving him to make up his ground steadily? Who knows? The Will Mr. W. G. Stead ever have reason to regret that Cimabue failed to pass the vet. in order to change hands at 2,000 guineas? Who knows? Cimabue.
