SATURDAY’S EVENTS

The Premier Pigeon Flying Club’s race from Ohakune (airline 185 miles), was won by Mr. J. Green’s r c c Silver Rain, with a velocity of 952 yards per second; Mr. C. Ryan’s b b c Boy Friend, 930 yards, second; Mr. H. Rigg’s blk c h Golden Duchess, 924 yards, third. Under adverse conditions, the velocities attained by the birds represent very creditable performances. ELLERSLIE CLUB The Ellerslie Homing Pigeon Club held its eleventh young bird race from Hunterville on Saturday. Results: Mr. Porter’s All Bell, velocity 1043yds. per minute, 1; M. Adkin’s Valencia, 1035yds per minute, 2; Mr. Ching’s Civility, 1033yds, 3. Also flew: Mr. Wilson’s entry, 1021yds; Mr. Chapman’s entry, 1016yds.
