DESCENDING HILLS

The proper procedure in coming down steep grades when operating a car equipped with planetary transmissions is, according to L. G. Evans of the service department of the National Automobile Club, to apply the low speed pedal with sufficient pressure to allow no slipping of the bands. This causes the motor to rotate and act as a brake on the car which eliminates the use of the ordinary foot brake in practically all cases. It also saves all wear on the bands. By following this suggestion no trouble should be experienced from worn bands on this type of car in m in work.
