ROSEMARY. THAT’S FOR REMEMBRANCE

Rosemary, that’s for remembrance. Down Queen Street yesterday walked a gentle old lady, carrying a large basket on her arm. To every passerby she presented a tiny sprig of green. “I can let you have only one little piece,” she said as she distributed her tokens of rosemary from the basket on her arm. How many hundreds of Aucklanders who received a sprig of rosemary yesterday it is impossible to say, but there must have been over a thousand tiny pieces in that basket. In the action of this gentle old lady was the true spirit of Anzac Day. “Rosemary, thats for remembrance,” said the recipients as they smelled the fragrant sprigs and went on their way.
