“ONE LONG HOLIDAY”
PROBATIONER’S PROMISE The only work Leonard Walter Bartlett could get was relieving people from various odd jobs during the holiday. so he told Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., in the Police Court this morning, when lie was charged with not complying with the conditions of his probation. “Well, your life is one long holiday, except when other people are having theirs,” commented the magistrate. The case was adjourned until Wednesday, to give Bartlett, who is 23, an opportunity to keep his promise to pay £2 10s restitution that he had been ordered to pay three years ago, and also a £5 15s fine (for a breach of the Defence Act) which he had not paid either, and was now in gaol in consequence.
