SUBURBAN CRICKET
ELLERSLIE’S GOOD RECORD The Ellerslie Cricket Club had a splendid record this season in the Auckland Suburban Association’s competitions. The club’s senior A team won the suburban senior championship, and the club’s senior B team tied with the Harbour Board B team for the senior B championship. The club’s A team had a fine allround side, the club averages disclosing outstanding strength in both batting and bowling. Three batsmen in the A team had an average of over 30 runs per innings, viz., A. Gedye, who totalled 409 runs for 11 completed innings; W. Hetherington, 312 runs at an average of 34.6 per innings; and C. Kerr, who scored 326 runs for an average of 32.4. The outstanding bowler was J. Baxter, who took 55 wickets during the season at a cost of 12.2 runs per wicket. The best average was secured by R. Laurence, who took 28 wickets at a cost of 11.0 runs per wicket. R. Burton also did well, taking 28 wickets at an average cost o| 14.1 yer wicket.
