TAKAPUNA ELECTION

RATEPAYERS’ ASSN. TICKET

At a meeting of the Takapuna Progressive Ratepayers’ Association, held last evening in the Foresters’ Hall, Mr. O. H. Matthews presided. Mr. J. Williamson, after explaining reasons for his candidature for the mayoralty, dealt with his policy concerning transport and finance. He also advocated independent water reticulation for the borough, progressive completion of sewage works, and connecting of the concrete broken at Bayswater, Belmont, and at the back of the lake.

That the purchase of the Takapuna ferries by the Devonport Steam Ferry Company had changed the aspect of the transport question was shown by other speakers, candidates for the council. The trolly-bus was suggested as the best solution of the land transport problem. Policies of economy were generally explained.
