ROTORUA TROUT

GOOD CATCHES REPORTED (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, To-day. The fishing in this district during the holiday season has been good, and many holiday makers have taken advantage of the last weeks of the season. Trout have been very plentiful in Okatina Lake, but could be only taken by trolling, the bright sunshine making it impossible to fish with the fly. One party took about 2 8 fish running up to 12 pounds in weight. Rotorua was too smooth for any favourable results in the fishing line, some days being just like a sheet of glass. At this time of the year there are good fish to be had in the Ngongotaha and Waititi streams, also in the Ohau Channel, but this cannot be generally known, as there are very few fishermen about. In Lake Tarawera on Sunday last Messrs. Stuart, Baker and party caught 37 good fish, averaging from 5 to 81bs. Most of these were caught with the fly.
