DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
ANZAC DAY ARRANGEMENTS TOWN HALL SERVICE Constituted by Act of .Parliament as a day of remembrance, Anzac Day, as befitting the occasion, will be observed as a close holiday. Business premises, including hotels, will be closed, and there will be no sporting fixtures. Not a holiday, but a holy day in the true sense of the word, Anzac Day will be devoted entirely to services in memory of the men from New Zealand who, on all fronts, and also in New Zealand, gave of their best in the greatest of all wars. AT THE TOWN HALL In Auckland the principal service will be at the Town Hall at 11 a.m. Returned soldiers will parade at Queen’s Wharf at 9.30 a.m., and will then march up Queen Street to the cenotaph erected outside the Town Hall. There the salute will be giv *n by each unit as they march by, the men then proceeding to the hall, where they will occupy the ground floor. The
next of kin of deceased soldiers will be allotted a portion of the gallery, and the doors will be opened for ticketholders at 10.15. After they have been admitted, the hall will be thrown open to the public. Next of kin tickets may be had on application to the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association in Customs Street. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, will represent the Government. This will enable the public to take part in the service without crowding the building.
