VICAR GETS BUSY

PAINTING ST. THOMAS’S INTERESTING OLD CHURCH To-morrow the Rev. H. N. Drummond, vicar of St. Thomas’s Church, Freemans’ Bay, will discard his coat and, with many of his parishioners, finish the painting of the church and the school. The church has needed a coat of paint for some time, and part of the £IBO which was collected during the jubilee services is being used for that purpose. St. Thomas’s is; one of the first churches to be built in Auckland. The first service was conducted there by Bishop Cowie in 1877. It is hoped to purchase an electric organ-blower for the church from the special collections.
