USE OF DOMINION TIMBER AID FOR SAWMILLERS Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The executive of the Dominion Federated Sawmillers meets to-day to discuss proposals for a conference relating to the use of New Zealand 0.8. timber by the State Advances and Public Works Departments in house and other construction schemes. The millers will probably sit till to-morrow evening. When the Government took the mattex* up recently a sub-committee representing the various departments inquired to prepare a report and the resolutions embodied in this report will engage the attention of the millers to- ' 'The Minister saVs that the opinion of tlie committee is that more New Zealand 0.8. timber could be used provided it was allowed first to season thoroughly, and also, on the condition that sawmillers gave an undertaking that they would be responsible in seeing that the timber supplied was kept up to given standards. Provided tn conditions stated could be complieo with the Government DepartmM affected would be instructed to utilise New Zealand timbers to as great extent as possible.
