NOTABLE EXPERIENCES Press Association WHANGAREI, To-day. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. D. Stewart, Mataraua, late of Kaurihohore, that their son, Lieut. Eric Stewart, of the Royal Air Force, stationed in Irak, lately flew as escort to Sir Samuel Hoare, British Air Minister, from Bagdad to India, in a huge troop-carrying biplane called the “Victoria.” The airplane has 1,000 h.p. engine and is designed to carry 24 troops as well as the “plane crew'.” In India Lieut. Stewart took part in a great air pageant at Delhi, in which more than 80 machines were engaged, and at which every air squadron of India was present.
