The Immortal Trumper
Playing for Paddington in Sydney grade cricket in 1897-8, Victor Trumper was the first Australian to score a thousand runs in a season’s club cricket. His inningses were: 52 run out, 123, 125, 85, 120 not out, L9l not out, 133, 162 not out; total, 1,021 average, 204.20.
