Dorothy Baker, aged 15, climbed a 145 ft. ladder up the chimneystack of the Canterbury electricity works, accompanied by a steeplejack. This is thought to be a world’s record climb for a girl. “It was wonderful,” said Dorothy, “I enjoyed it ever so much.” The steeplejack said, “that girl’s the bravest thing I’ve struck in 25 years of climbing.—A .and N.Z.
