LITTLE BOY KILLED
STRUCK BY LORRY FATALITY AT PT. CHEVALIER RAN ROUND A BUS A distressing fatality occurred this morning at Point Chevalier, when Ronald Arthur Turner, aged five years and seven months, was killed by a passing lorry. The little boy resided with his parents in Moa Road, Point Chevalier. This morning he left his home to go to school and travelled part of the way on a motor-bus. With three other boys who were also on their way to school the little chap got off the bus at the intersection of Point Chevalier and Te Ra Roads. He ran round in front of the bus with the intention of crossing the road. Unfortunately, he did not notice that a City Council motor-lorry, driven by Thomas Fouldes, was passing the standing bus, going in the same direction the bus had been travelling. In a second, and before the boy had time to realise his danger, he had run into the passing motorlorry. A board beside the running board of the lorry struck the boy in the face and knocked him over on the hard surface of the road with some force. The lorry was immediately stopped and the injured boy was picked up. from the road. Dr. O. F. Lamb was called and he ordered the boy to the Auckland Hospital, but the little chap died before the institution was reached. An inquest will be held.
