A DESPERATE VOYAGE SHIP’S CREW TYPHUS STRICKEN By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright CALCUTTA, Tuesday. A dramtic story was related on the arrival at Caluctta from Colombo of the oil-tanker Volsella. Typhus broke out in mid-ocean on the voyage from Beira, Portuguese East Africa, to Singapore. The chief officer died and the captain and eight members of the crew were stricken with the disease. Only the two junior officers were left to control the ship. They were on duty continuously, and worked the ship across the Indian Ocean. and by desperate efforts reached port in time to save the sick men.—A. and N.Z.
