Captain C. Edge, wharf superintendent of the Union Company, Wellington, is at present in Auckland. TONGARIRO DUE MONDAY.— Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Tongariro, en route from London, leaves Suva to-day for Auckland, where she is due on Monday next. TOFUA SAILS SATU RDAY.— The Union Company advises that the Tofua undocks to-morrow and berths at Central Wharf. She is announced to sail at 11 a.m. on Saturday for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. VANCOUVER STEAMER. —Advice received by the Union Company states that the R.M.S. Aorangi arrives at Suva at 3 p.m. to-day and leaves there at 9 p.m. to-day for Auckland. She is due to arrive here on Sunday afternoon and sails at 10 p.m. on Tuesday next for Sydney. DENHAM REPORTS. —According to a radio message received by Heather, Roberton and Company the master of the C. and D. Line’s chartered steamer Denham expects the vessel to arrive at Auckland to-morrow afternoon from New Y'ork.
FORERIC REPORTED. Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane lfave beenadvised that the steamer Foreric now loading at Nauru Island leaves on Saturday for Auckland and Wanganui. She is due here about May 4. FROM TEXAS. —Advice received by the Texas Oil Company states that aiAndrew Weir steamer is at present loading at Port Arthur, Texas, for Auckland. Wellington, possibly outports and Australia. She is due at Auckland toward the end of May. SUSSEX LEAVES SINGAPORE.— Cabled advice has been received the Union Company that the Sussex, from Calcutta, cleared Singapore on Sunday morning for Samarang and Sourabaya. The vessel is expected to leave the latter port at the end of this week for Townsville, thence Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dnnejfn. She is due at Auckland about c
PORT CAROLINE COMPLETING.— To complete loading for Home, the C. and D. Line steamer Port Caroline arrived at Wellington this morning from Wanganui. She sails on Saturday for London and Montevideo.
CANADIAN BRITISHER. News has been received by the Canadian Government Agency that the Canadian Britisher left Panama Canal at 2 p.m. on April 13, en route from Halifax to New Zealand ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on May 11.
CANADIAN CHALLENGER.—The Canadian Government Line advises that the Canadian Challenger arrived at Timaru this morning from Lyttelton and leaves to-night for Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland. She is due here on April 29 and sails finally on April 30 for New York, Boston and Halifax.
HIKURANGI RECOMMISSIONED. —The Hikurangi, after being laid up since June last, to be recommissioned and sails to-night for Whangarei to take up her old running in the coal trade. Last year the Hikurangi coal mines were flooded out and the shortage of coal created left the vessel out of work. But this has been overcome and the owners, Messrs. James Smith and Co., are dispatching the Hikurangi to freight coal from Whangarei to Auckland. QUEEN MAUD ARRIVES. —The Queen Line steamer Queen Maqd arrived at Auckland this morning from Antwerp with a general cargo for discharge at New Zealand ports. The vessel left Antwerp on Fq£)ruary 10 and arrived at Louisberg on February 24. St. John was cleared on March 2, and Colon reached on March 23. Transit through Panama was given the next day and the ship made good passage to Auckland. The weather on the voyage was very fair, although large quantities of floating ice were encountered in the Atlantic. The Queen Maud is commanded by Captain C. R. Williamson, who has associated with him the following officers:—Chief officer, Mr. R. McLeod: second, Mr. R. Stewart; third, Mr. D. Fotheringham; chief engineer, Mr. G. Barclay; second, Mr. W. Adair; third, Mr. W. Dougall; fourth, Mr. G. Fleming; wireless operator, Mr. P. J. Finnigan; chief steward, Mr. P. Anderson.
SOMERSET BERTHS.—The Federal steamer Somerset, which arrived at Auckland - early yesterday from Brisbane and was held up in the stream owing to a case of sickness on board, berthed yesterday afternoon at the Queen’s Wharf to commence loading. When the port health officer boarded the vessel it was found that a greaser was suffering from influenza, but it was not deemed necessary to place the vessel in quarantine. The patient was removed to the Auckland Hospital as soon as the vessel was berthed at Queen’s Wharf. On her recent voyage the steamer left Brisbane on Good Friday morning, and although rough weather was experienced for the first two days, conditions later improved. Loading for London will be carried out at Auckland, Napier, Dunedin and Wellington, and the vessel is expected to clear the last-mentioned port on May 7. She will leave here early on Saturday morning. Captain J. HowelPrice is in command and has associated with him the following officers: —Chief, Mr. A. Argell; second, Mr. C. Brewer; third, Mr. A.
