MR. DONALDSON’S POLICY FIVE IMPORTANT PLANKS Five important planks for the electioneering platform of Mr. S. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket, who is seeking re-election, were decided on at a meeting of his supporters last night: 1. To make Newmarket an independent municipality. 2. The acquisition of Government land to relieve traffic congestion (.it was reported that negotiations were already proceeding for the transfer of railway property at the junction of Broad and Remuera Road). 3. The erection of workers’ cottages. 4. Immediate improvements in firefighting. 5. The reconstruction in concrete of present bitumen roads, this work to be carried out without further increases in rates.
